Workplace Violence: What to Do When You See It? By: Mark T. Beyer, Ed.D., and Robert J. Seiler, M.S., Ph.D.

Workplace violence often begins out of anger or frustration over some perceived infraction or violation, then escalated over time. There are many factors that can cause workplace violence. One of the most common are workplace disputes about salary, wages, compensation, promotions, or even sexual harassment.

If your organization has a culture that places a high value on the integrity of the workplace, and if there are many incidents of workplace violence, you may want to consider some workplace violence exercises. It is always important for any member of the organization to know that there is a specific set of workplace violence exercises you can do to address the issues or concerns.

The first exercise to consider is to do a specific work-related exercise to demonstrate to your employees the consequences of workplace violence. The clerk can tell the employees that if someone is injured at the workplace and they are hurt because of a piece of machinery or an injured employee, the employee can sue the company and get compensation for the injury. and he or she could also sue the office for damages. if the injured employee was hurt because of someone else's negligence. In addition, the clerk can tell the employees that if the injury was caused by someone else they can file a lawsuit against the individual.

Workplace violence exercises can include some other things, such as having the employees sign a form acknowledging that they would like to have a work-related exercise done. and that they are willing to attend a work-related exercise, such as a work-related awareness workshop or work-related health and wellness exercise seminar, and that they would like to attend a workplace violence awareness conference.

Workplace violence exercises can be a great way for you and your employees to lear...
